Constellia, One of the UK’s Fastest-Growing Businesses, Becomes Employee-Owned

Constellia, one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies, have today, transferred a majority stake in the company to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).
Employees are now majority-owners of Constellia as beneficiaries of the Trust. Current and future employees are expected to share in the success of the business.
This transition marks a significant milestone not only for our employees, but also for our valued clients, partners and suppliers within the Constellia community. By placing the majority of Constellia’s shares into the Trust for the benefit of all current and future employees, we are ensuring that those who deliver our services have a direct stake in the company’s ongoing success. As employee-owners, Constellia team members will be even more invested in delivering the highest quality of service, fostering innovation, driving value and strengthening partnerships.
The move also positions Constellia among a growing number of UK businesses adopting employee ownership models such as Richer Sounds and Arup. According to the Employee Ownership Association, the Employee-Owned Businesses Sector grew by over 30% from 2022-2023. It was estimated that by 2030 they would have contributed £61–74 billion to the economy and fits with the Government’s commitment to double the size of the co-operative and mutual sector. In addition, the latest ‘EO Knowledge Programme’ report states that ‘employee owners are 8-12% more productive’ (EOA, 2023).

Alan Gotto, Founder and CPO of Constellia, commented: “This transition gives our employees ownership of the business they have built and the future they will shape. Our people, who create the value in this company every day, will now share in that value as owners. By giving our employees a real say and stake, we’re ensuring that those who do the work have the power to control it.”
Rob Levene, CEO of Constellia, added: “We are proud to have confirmed that majority ownership of Constellia will be transferred to our employees. Constellia’s values-led culture puts our people, clients, and suppliers first and we’re focused on maximising taxpayer value in our work across the public, utilities and wider regulated sectors. Employee ownership will ensure continued dedication to quality delivery and innovative solutions that deliver measurable value for money.”
Terence Milner, Trustee of the EOT and employee representative, noted: “As an employee representative on the Trust, I’m thrilled about our transition to employee ownership, because it means we will all benefit from the success we create together. This transition empowers our team to take ownership of our work and our future, while maintaining the culture and standards that have made Constellia successful.”
